The purchasing department is responsible for getting the right commercial conditions.
They should compare price, delivery time, payment terms and supplier capability.
But the purchasing team should not be expected to determine technical compatibility from a product name alone.
The Maintenance Team Knows the Real Situation
The people working with the cooling tower every day often have information that cannot be found in a drawing.
They know which cell has problems, whether the tower has been modified and whether the existing fill has been replaced before.
