I have seen this situation many times in the cooling tower business.

A plant has a very short shutdown window. The maintenance manager wants the new Cooling Tower Fill delivered as quickly as possible, so someone says: “Let's place the order now and confirm the final dimensions later.”

I understand why people want to do this.

When production is waiting, every day matters.

But as a manufacturer, I would be careful with this approach.

Why Customers Want to Move Fast

International Cooling Tower Media projects can involve manufacturing, packing, shipping and customs clearance before the material finally reaches the plant.

If the customer waits until the last minute to order, the delivery schedule can become very tight.

So from a purchasing point of view, placing the order early seems like the logical solution.

The Problem Is That Cooling Tower Fill Is Not a Product You Can Always “Adjust Later”

Once the production specification has been confirmed, the manufacturer starts producing according to those dimensions and requirements.

If the customer later discovers that the actual tower is different from the information originally provided, the situation becomes much more complicated.
